Somewhere To Belong

Introduced online by BBC Introducing East Midlands, Adam Pickering and Jess Matthews—two complete strangers at the time—met up and instantly clicked like old friends, writing and recording three finished songs in that first session. The result was something they both felt was undeniably special and what they didn't realise in the moment would become Efterlo.

Blending elements of ambient music, dream pop and experimental production, Efterlo crafts sonic landscapes that feel like a warm hug—immersive, ethereal, and deeply emotive. Their music invites you into a world of hazy melodies and textured soundscapes.

Along with his wife Paula Pickering, Adam is also part of a long ongoing project called The Daydream Club that create indie-folk and ambient music, so it was inevitable that all three of them (Adam, Paula and Jess) would get together for a full collaboration. Jess and Paula's voices blend so well together it's often hard to distinguish the difference. Somewhere To Belong was written and recorded in the space of a few hours, "it's one of those songs that almost created itself it was so effortless, I'm a lucky chap getting to work with these two brilliant ladies".

From an unexpected introduction to a fully realised project, Efterlo creates music that resonates with the heart and lingers in the mind. Somewhere To Belong marks the debut release of Efterlo with plenty more to come.
